How does delivery to my hotel actually work?

You give the delivery address when you book, and the car is brought to that address inside Costa Adeje, just as with car hire with delivery in Golf del Sur. The address can be a hotel, an apartment or a villa in the town. The phone number you give at booking, with the correct country code, must be reachable for the whole rental and on the day before pick-up, by phone or by Viber, WhatsApp or Telegram. Service quality claims are not accepted if the renter could not be contacted on it.

Delivery is priced per car, not per town. Each listing shows whether delivery is free or charged and, where it is charged, the delivery price. The same listing shows the deposit, the cover levels offered for that car with a price for each, whether free cancellation applies and any mileage limit. Most cars carry no mileage limit. The minimum chargeable rental period is twenty-four hours, so a car kept for a few hours is charged as a full day.

The driving licence must be a valid national licence with its details in Latin script, and its expiry date must be no earlier than the last day of the rental. Copies and electronic licences are not accepted. If the licence is valid only in the country that issued it, an International Driving Permit is strongly recommended and may be requested. The rental may require a physical embossed credit card in the main driver's name. Where a debit card is accepted, it must also be a physical, personalised card with embossed details in that name. Parking, and the thing that catches people out

Parking in Costa Adeje follows the standard Spanish kerb colours. Blue lines mark metered bays with a time limit. Unmarked white bays are free. Yellow lines mean no parking. The same colour system applies across Spain. Parking charges, fuel, fines and toll roads during the rental are the renter's to pay.

Three fuel stations serve Costa Adeje. The BP at Siam Mall on Avenida Siam is open 24 hours. The DISA at San Eugenio is open from 08:00 to 17:30. The TGAS Trebol station is at the La Caleta and Adeje junction on the TF-1. The car goes back with the fuel level it was delivered with. If the level is lower, you pay the difference at the rental company's rate. If it is higher, you are not compensated for the difference. The Canary Islands levy their own fuel tax and IGIC instead of IVA and the state hydrocarbons excise, and fuel costs less here than on mainland Spain.

Where a car actually gets you from here

From Costa Adeje, Los Gigantes is twenty-seven minutes and twenty-six kilometres by road. Masca village is twenty-nine minutes and thirty-four kilometres, on the TF-436. The Cabildo de Tenerife runs access control on the TF-436 from 09:00 to 16:00 while a fire-risk alert is declared, and vehicles driven by visitors for purely recreational purposes are refused. Residents, people travelling for work and emergency services pass. Vilaflor, the highest municipality in the Canary Islands at roughly 1,400 metres, is twenty-nine minutes. The Parador in the Teide crater is fifty-two minutes and fifty kilometres, and there is no fuel station inside the national park.

Thirteen minutes and eight kilometres from Costa Adeje is the older resort down at Los Cristianos, which is also a city-delivery point with the car brought to an address in the town. Playa de las Americas is eight minutes and six kilometres. Playa Paraiso is fourteen minutes and ten kilometres to the north, and car hire in Playa Paraiso is delivered to an address there in the same way.

Hire cars are allowed only on paved public roads, so unpaved tracks in the hills are outside the rental terms. Standard insurance does not cover damage to the wheels, the undercarriage, the windscreen or the interior of the car. Insurance is invalid where the damage comes from intentional vandalism or neglect.

What size of car should I book for Costa Adeje?

Each listing shows the number of seats and the gearbox.
