Can I just take a car for a day?

The minimum chargeable rental period is twenty-four hours, so a rental of a few hours is charged as a full day. A car rented from Monday morning to Tuesday afternoon is charged as two full days. The rental conditions for Spain apply in the Canary Islands.

To extend the rental, inform the rental agent in advance. From Los Cristianos, the Parador in the Teide crater is fifty-three minutes and forty-seven kilometres by road. The Teide cable car base station is at kilometre 43 of the TF-21, at 2,356 metres; tickets are sold online in advance, and the cable car closes in adverse wind. The final walk to the 3,715 metre summit is the Telesforo Bravo trail, booked through the Cabildo's Tenerife ON platform in timed slots, and non-residents have paid a fee for it since 1 September 2025.

At Tenerife South Airport, lower-priced cars were fewer in the late-October listings and absent from the Christmas-week and mid-February listings. Parking and fuel in a town that was not built for cars

The covered car park on Calle Valle Menendez in Los Cristianos is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with a maximum vehicle height of 2.2 metres. On the street, blue lines are metered bays with a time limit, unmarked white bays are free and yellow lines mean no parking. Parking charges and fines during the rental are the renter's to pay.

The BP at Bulevar Chajofe 2 in Los Cristianos is open 24 hours. At Tenerife South Airport, the Repsol station on the airport access road is open 24 hours, about 0.4 kilometres from the terminal. The car goes back with the fuel level it was delivered with. If the level is lower, you pay the difference at the rental company's rate, and if it is higher, you are not compensated for the difference.

Who is allowed to drive it?

The driver's minimum age and minimum driving experience are listed on each car's page. These requirements can differ even between similar models. The rental agent has the right to refuse the rental at any time if the driver's age or driving experience does not meet the requirement for that car. The main driver is the person whose name must be on the credit card, where one is required.

The licence must be a valid national licence with its details in Latin script, and its expiry date must be no earlier than the end of the rental. Copies and electronic licences are not accepted. If the licence is valid only in the country that issued it, an International Driving Permit is strongly recommended and may be requested. Where a credit card is required, it must be a physical embossed card in the main driver's name, and it must be with you when the car is handed over. Where a debit card is accepted, it must also be a physical, personalised card with embossed details in the main driver's name, and this is stated during booking and on the voucher. The age and experience requirements are set per car and apply to whoever drives it.

What the car is for once you have it

From Los Cristianos, Playa de las Americas is ten minutes and four kilometres by road, and car hire in Playa de las Americas is a city delivery to an address in that resort. Costa Adeje is fourteen minutes and nine kilometres, and delivery into Costa Adeje works the same way, with the car brought to the address you give. Los Gigantes is thirty-four minutes and thirty-two kilometres. Masca village is thirty-six minutes and forty kilometres on the TF-436, where visitors driving for recreation are refused between 09:00 and 16:00 while the Cabildo's access control is active.

Vilaflor is thirty minutes and twenty-five kilometres from Los Cristianos, and it is the highest municipality in the Canary Islands, at roughly 1,400 metres. The Parador in the Teide crater is fifty-three minutes, and there is no fuel station inside the national park. At the Izaña observatory, at 2,369 metres, the annual mean temperature is about eleven degrees below Tenerife South Airport. The gap is about fourteen degrees in January, when the mean is 18.4 degrees at the airport and 4.3 degrees at Izaña, and five to six degrees in July and August.

To the east, the short hop up to El Medano is twenty-four minutes and twenty-three kilometres, and El Medano is also a city-delivery point, with delivery also offered when you hire a car in Golf del Sur. Tenerife South Airport is thirty-three minutes and twenty kilometres from Los Cristianos, and Santa Cruz de Tenerife is fifty-seven minutes. Tenerife North Airport is sixty-three minutes and Puerto de la Cruz is seventy-six minutes and seventy-eight kilometres.
